Sirdoonka Kenya oo wada hadalsiinaya DF iyo Axmed Madoobe “Kulamada Nairobi”

NAIROBI(P-TIMES) – Madaxweynaha Jubbaland Axmed Maxamed Islaan (Axmed Madoobe) ayaa isku diyaarinaya u safrida magaalada Nairobi ee dalka Kenya, wuxuuna toos uga soo duuli doonaa magaalada Kismaayo ee caasumada KMG ah Jubbaland, waxaa isna shalay gaaray Kenya, Agaasimaha Nabadsugida iyo Sirdoonka Soomaaliya Mahad Max’ed Salaad, wada hadalo ay garwadeen ka tahay dawladda Kenya ayaana lafilayaa in ay bilowdaan.

Axmed Madoobe oo qorsheynayay in uu Nairobi soo gaaro 3 maalin kahor, ayay dawladda Kenya dib u dhigto, sababo la xariira in Madaxweynaha Soomaaliya Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud marti u ahaa dhankooda oo kusugnaa, una joogay saxiixida heshiiska fasixida Qaadka Kenya ee tagi jiray Koonfurta iyo Waqooyi Barri Soomaaliya.

Sida ay xaqiijinayaan Ilo wareedyo muhiim ah, Madaxtooyada Soomaaliya ayaa doonaysa in ay isbedel kahirgaliso Jubbaland, waxayna xooga saaraysaa in ay dawladda Kenya ku cadaadiso in ay Axmed Madoobe qanciso, si loo gaaro heshiis mideysan ka hor mudo xileedkiisa.

Axmed Madoobe oo qorsheynaya xilka qaadista Kuxigeenkiisa oo GEDO kasoo jeeda “Ujeedka keentay”

Sharuudo badan ayay labada dhinac kala wataan, waxaana wada hadalkan dhinaca dawladda Soomaaliya ku matalaya Agaasimaha NISA, kaas oo xalayba la kulmay qaar kamid ah darafyada ay qadiyada Jubbaland khuseyso ee Kenyaanka ah.

Xukuumadda Faderaalka ayaa doonaysa in Galka Jubbaland oo yaala Nairobi uu noqdo mid laga maamulo Muqdisho, si lamid ah sida ay dawlad gobaleedyada kale saameyn ugu yeelan karaan, waxaana hadda dood xoogan hareysay hanaanka wax kabedelka qorshahaas.

Bisha August-2022, Kenya ayaa galaysa doorashada guud, waxaana aan markan tartan qeyb ka aheyn Madaxweynaha xukunka baneynaya Uhuru Kenyata, balse Galka Jubbaland oo ay Kenya saameyn ku leedahay ayaa ahaa mid ay horey u maamuleysay Sirdoonka dalkas.

Agaasimihii hore ee NISA Fahad Yasiin ayaa dhawaan wareysi uu bixiyey markii 1aad ku qiray in ay sannadkii 2018-kii ka wada hadleen dawladda Kenya galka arrimaha Jubbaland, isagoo sheegay in uu xiligas Kenya kala hadlay in ay faragalinta joojiso, kuna qanciso Axmed Madoobe in uu la xariiro Farmaajo, halka uu la xariiri lahaa Uhuru Kenyata.

Jubbaland, waxaa la aaminsan yahay in ay noqonayso halka ugu badan ee ay ku laacdami doonana dawladda Faderaalka Soomaaliya & Axmed Madoobe, haddii ay isku daydo Villa Somalia in ay wax ka bedel kusameyso hanaanka doorashada iyo sii socoshada Jubbaland, iyadoo durba Axmed Madoobe diyaarinayo qorshaha dib u doorashadiisa.

  4. In light of this reality, the only and best option left for Puntland and Jubbaland to protect themselves and safeguard their strategic interests is to assume their historic distinctive status of royalty which should henceforth define them and their self-governance; a status based on their shared history and ancestry.

It would be a grave injustice and an insult to their relative sizes, strategic importance, and unique heritage for Puntland and Jubbaland to be classed as equal to the rest of the federal states. The federal states can and should enjoy equal rights, but they are by no means of equal calibre in all other ways.

The social, political, and economic crisis crippling these twin regions stems from precisely the fact that their unique identity and status were completely overshadowed by the formation of the Somali republic and its centralized system of governance, back in 1960. It is that historical mistake that needs fixing now if the perpetual conflict between these regions and Mogadishu is to be resolved once and for all.

Therefore, the only way out of this quagmire is for Puntland and Jubbaland is to immediately revert to their own historical standing by restoring their royal status and erecting their system of government on its foundation and pillars.

It seems that we are suddenly back to the 90s within the first 100 days of Xassan Sheekh’s calamitous presidency. It is a case of Déjà vu all over again and chillingly surreal that names such as Barre Hiiraale and Cabdi Qaybdiid are once again filling the airwaves in Somalia’s politics.

  7. To: AWLAL
    Dear Sir
In my humble opinion your claim to dynastic memory that distinguishes you from other Somalis, is an exaggeration at best. Granted there once existed the likes Warsangeli Sultanate, Sayid Mohamed and the Kenadiid kingdom. But a quick glance at open source information reveals the Hawiye clan’s claim to dynastic memory is much deeper and more consequential. I have put forward two items both of this can be found on open sources The first is brief history the second is paragraph on Imam Ahmed Ibrahim alqazi(Ahmed Gurey)
According to the 12th-century author Al-Idrisi, the Hawiye clan occupied the coastal areas between Ras Hafun and Merca, as well as the lower basin of the lower Shabelle river. Al-Idrisi’s mention of the Hawiye is the first documentary reference to a specific Somali group in the Horn of Africa. Later Arab writers also make references to the Hawiye clan in connection with both Merca and the lower Shabelle valley. Ibn Sa’id (1214–74), for instance, considered Merca to be the capital of the Hawiye, who lived in fifty villages on the bank of a river which he called “the nile of Mogadishu, a clear reference to the Shabelle river.[15]
Along with Rahanweyn, the Hawiye clan also came under the Ajuran Empire control in the 13th century that governed much of southern Somalia and eastern Ethiopia, with its domain extending from Hobyo in the north, to Qelafo in the west, to Kismayo in the south.[16]
In this period, Harold Marcus credits the Hawiye as instrumental in Islamizing the communities of what is now southeast Ethiopia and southern Somalia during the 15th and 16th centuries.[8][17]
Since sections of the Hawiyya were migrating southward before and during Gragn’s jihad, it is not inconceivable that they brought certain theocratic notions with them. Indeed, the Ajuran maintained a wakil (governor) in the region around Qallafo. This area was not only the traditional Hawiyya homeland, but also stood midway geographically between the emirates of Harar and the Benaadir, an ideal link for the transmission of political and religious ideas.
Enrico Cerulli, an Author on key Somali social development and early history, mentions the following passage on the growth and succession of the Ajuran Sultanate.[18]
The oral sources also provide us with recurrent themes that point to certain structural features of Ajuran rule. The descendants of the Ajuraan (among which are the Gareen imams) can therefore be understood to have inherited the spiritual (Islamic) and the secular (numerical) power provided by the alliance of the first three Hawiyya “brothers”. Ajuran power reposed on the twin pillars of spiritual preeminence and Hawiyya kinship solidarity, a potent combination in the Somali cultural context. In historical terms, a theocratic ideology superimposed on an extensive network of Hawiyya-affiliated clans helped uphold Ajuran dominance over a wide region. The Darandoolle, it should be noted, were part of the Gurqaate, a clan section collateral to the Jambelle Hawiyya from whom Ajuran (and Gareen) is said to have been descended. Intermarriage among the descedants of these uterine brothers on the one hand helped reinforce the solidarity of the Hawiyya. On the other hand, competition between collateral lines was very common in Somalia, particularly where the titular leadership of a larger clan-confederation was at stake. Such a struggle for the dominant place within the Hawiyya-dominated Ajuran confederation may also be reflected in the rise of the Silcis and El Amir in the later years of Ajuran rule. Both are said to have been descedants of Gurqaate Hawiyya, as were the Abgaal Darandoolle. Thus it can be argued that the dominant groups which appeared toward the end of the Ajuran era—the Darandoolle near Muqdisho, the Silcis near Afgooye, and the El Amir in Marka—represent the partition of the Ajuran imamate among collateral Hawiyya sections. Or perhaps one branch of the Hawiyya—namely the Gurqaate—forcibly replaced another (the Jambelle) as leaders of the clan.
The Hiraab Imamate was the main successor state of Ajuran Sultanate. The reason for their rebellion was the Ajuran rulers, in the end, became extremely prideful, neglected the sharia law, and imposed a heavy tax on their subjects which was the main reason for the rebellion.[19] Other groups would follow in the rebellion which would eventually bring down Ajuran rule in the inter-riverine region and Benadir coast.[20]
Lee Cassanelli in his book, The Shaping of Somali society, provides a historical picture of the Hiraab Imamate. He writes:
“According to local oral tradition, the Hiraab imamate was a powerful alliance of closely related groups who shared a common lineage under the Gorgaarte clan divisions. It successfully revolted against the Ajuran Empire and established an independent rule for at least two centuries from the seventeen hundreds and onwards.[21]
The alliance involved the army leaders and advisors of the Habar Gidir and Duduble, a Fiqhi/Qadi of Sheekhaal, and the Imam was reserved for the Mudulood branch who is believed to have been the first born. Once established, the Imamate ruled the territories from the Shabeelle valley, the Benaadir provinces, the Mareeg areas all the way to the arid lands of Mudug, whilst the ancient port of Hobyo emerged as the commercial center and Mogadishu being its capital for the newly established Hiraab Imamate in the late 17th century.[21]
Hobyo served as a prosperous commercial centre for the Imamate. The agricultural centres of El Dher and Harardhere included the production of sorghum and beans, supplementing with herds of camels, cattle, goats and sheep. Livestock, hides and skin, whilst the aromatic woods and raisins were the primary exports as rice, other foodstuffs and clothes were imported. Merchants looking for exotic goods came to Hobyo to buy textiles, precious metals and pearls. The commercial goods harvested along the Shabelle river were brought to Hobyo for trade. Also, the increasing importance and rapid settlement of more southerly cities such as Mogadishu further boosted the prosperity of Hobyo, as more and more ships made their way down the Somali coast and stopped in Hobyo to trade and replenish their supplies.[21]
The economy of the Hawiye in the interior includes the predominant nomadic pastoralism, and to some extent, cultivation within agricultural settlements in the riverine area, as well as mercantile commerce along the urban coast. At various points throughout history, trade of modern and ancient commodities by the Hawiye through maritime routes included cattle skin, slaves, ivory and ambergris.[22][21]
Soon afterwards, the entire region was snapped up by the fascists Italians and it led to the birth of a Modern Somalia. However, the Hiraab hereditary leadership has remained intact up to this day and enjoys a dominant influence in national Somali affairs.”[21]
The leading historian of Ethiopia, former Minister of Education, Arts & Culture and Dean of the National Library under Haile Selassie, Takla Sadiq Mekuria, devoted a 950 paged book to the question of origin of Gragn and the identity of the Malassay in his rough monograph on the Gragn Wars (1973/1974) called “Ya Gragn Warara”, in it he draws on the evidence from Arab Faqih Sihab Uddin and the chronicles of Sarsa-Dengel. Takla was also able to draw on the oral tradition of Harar as well as the translated works of Enrico Cerulli and Phillip Paulitchke. Through the mediation of Dagazmac Wargnah he interviewed Ahmed Ali Sami, the highest authoritative scholar of Harar. Gragn’s father was to come from the Hawiye (Somali clan) in the Ogaden; a genealogy of eight generations before Gragn is known in this tradition.[33]

    • Last paragraph in my previous post is reference Imam Ahmed Gurey who conquered all of Ethiopia and killed the highest ranking navel officer of Portuguese navy in 1543 or there about.

  15. Good for you Khalid they say facts are stubborn. However history is written by the winners hence there could be fictional self praise by the victor and minimal references to the vanquished’s worth. Since there is neither a victor nor a vanquished in this story your deniability options are limited. But hey what ever rocks your bed.

  16. @@Gurey,

Thank you for the rebuttal and the information you have shared with us. I am already acquainted with and have access to more literature on this subject you kindly presented here.

Nevertheless, I am very glad that our brother A.A. Xade has helped clear the air when he challenged the implied allusion in your argument that the Ujuuraan Sultanate was a Hawiye dynasty.

With all due respect Sir, the fact of the matter remains the Hawiye were indeed part of and active participants in the Ujuuraan and early Adalite Sultanates, but those empires are not directly attributed to them but to the Dir and Daarood tribes instead.

We fail to see what really triggered your reaction to my previous comments as they were intended specifically for the Puntland and Jubbaland audience. As things stand ever since 1991, it is plainly obvious that our Hawiye brethren are unwilling and uninterested in sharing anything with the Daarood and others. In fact, they are pursuing their own selfish tribal agenda and seemingly a desire to rule other Somalis and retain power to themselves.

It is thus only natural that we also start getting our priorities right and begin shaping our own regional destiny before it is too late. We are the only ones pushing the Pan-Somalian agenda but being completely ignored and maligned for our efforts and good faith.

We surely cannot allow ourselves to be taken for granted and keep chasing a mirage forever when we possess the full capacity to shape our destiny. That is all and no offence intended to anyone.

    • Thank you AWLAL
Obviously you misunderstood me but no harm was intended. Additionally nothing has triggered me if the negative so expressed within the word is what referencing. But otherwise I am certainly triggered by a good natured debate. Concerning your response to the factual history presented before you. I hope you understand those were not and are not my words. Rather they are the words of reputable Historians I just want know is it your opinion that this historians don’t exist? or do you think they are lying. I really want to challenge you to produce facts contradicting the facts stated in my post. Not because you can’t produce it but we could learn from one another. Last point concerning attempt by one clan to dominate politics I think this is not uniquely a Hawiye problem.

  17. It’s natural to feel a little down when things don’t go your way. Without a doubt we are all attached at the hips. We share history, blood, geography most of all Islam. A great history of one Somali Clan. Is our common history. Whatever one clan achieves could not have been achieved without contribution from others. I wish you all the best. I hope to see a more positive discussions. Be forgiven one another try patience it’s men’s best friends.

  19. @@Gurey,

It’s quite late for me now, so, I’m unable to engage in any debate. Nonetheless, I think the challenge is on you to disprove that the people of Puntland and Jubbaland have a claim to their own royal status and history, not the other way round.

I only proudly advocated for what I sincerely believe in and which concerns my people’s destiny within Somalia itself. You are the one who took issue with that and who, therefore, needs to state clearly what the problem is.

We shall continue tomorrow – Inshaa’Allaah – but the ball is back in your court.

Even though you looked like here that you are coping some Books Written by the some Westren writers, who made first contact with Somali people at the end of only 18th century, let me give you small proof of what you are talking about.

    1. Hobyo was first inhabited by Suldan Kenadiid at the end of 18th century and before that, it was just a decert cost line.
2.Ajuran was not belongs to Hawiye, Darod nor Dir and they were more superior of all combined!
And if you want some proof of that, go to Somali inhabited Wajir Town of Kenya!
The Town is inhabited by Dagodia(Hawiye) Ogaden(Darod) and Ajurans.
Dagodia and Ogaden are Somali speaking, whilst Ajurans have their own native language that have nothing to do with Somali language what so ever.
And when it comes to who they make aliens with, they make with Ogadens, instead of Dagodia which is Hawiye clan indeed.
And when it comes to 4’5 system that Somalia uses today, Ajurans are indeed part of D&M! Why not Hawiye?!

When it comes to Imam Ahmed Gurey! Historians of the Ottoman Empire that helped him at the time of Sultan Suleiman Qanuni, wrote that Imam belong to Mareham Clan of Darod!

Make more research Sir, don’t rely on one or two Books written by Westerns who came Yesteryear!

  26. AA xade and Khalid
You’re both entitled to your opinion I gain repeat those were the words of historians not mine. If you have have well do the research and contradict them we will all benefit from it. As for your reference to kenadiid I mentioned him a the top of my post I have no issues with his rule of hobyo both his rule and the rule of the Hiraab Imamate, and that of Ajuraans are factual but on different time periods. Your second point I know the Ajuraan are part of the so called .5 in Somalia but so is Cawramale. Hence that will not negate historical facts. Brother I know geographical locations of current Ajuraan population I am closely related to them. Produce 1 single piece of history that say Ajuraan is not Hawiye or better yet produce one single Ajuraan person saying they are not Hawiye.

  27. Khalid I truly appreciate your advise this was meant to share history not demean others. We are all one and the same people. I am concluding my participation here. I am proud to say I do so with out ever insulting any group or person in here.

  28. Gurey:

Have you ever heard the name, Aji and Ajuuran that Somali people were using for it the last 500 years for today’s Somalia people before the name Somalia became used name?!
We all now the name Ajuuran, but, who was the Aji?!
I wiil tell you who was the Aji!
An Aji was an Alliance name used against Ajuurans by the all known today’s other Somali Clans, including Darod and Hawiye, for last 500 years!

So, if Ajuuran was a part of Hawiye clans, why were all known Hawiye clans of today were part of an Aji grouping who were against Ajuurans?!

Let any other argument a side and find out what made Hawiye and Darods an Alliance against Ajuurans!

In other words, it was just like an Irir Alliance which makes Hawiye and Iidoors and so on of todays against Darods! Kkk

So my friend, I strongly say to you that, Ajurans were not Hawiye yesterday and they are not Hawiye today!

    • Your referencing something that has no real written history behind it. If you can provide a book referencing it I will be more than willing to entertain it. Unfortunately there is no written history on that claim. In fact I can’t find that in the Oral tradition of the Hawiye which I am familiar with. This is exhausting let’s just leave it a lone. If you want disprove the written history go right a head . Just remember the history of one Somali Clan is the history of all Somali Clans.

  29. Gurey.

But, are saying that who never heard Aji and Ajuuran?!

Have you heard when Sayid Mohamed said.

-Ab uu yahayba Aadmigu haddanu uubato u dhiririn!
-Jidka Aderi loo maro haddaan laga hugaaroobin!
-Adduunyadu haddii aanan ka shabin taniyo Awdheegle!
-Ajiga Waamo joogow haddaanu olol ku soo gaarin! (Waamo=Jubaland)

I hope you will take this as a some kind of proof that what I’m saying is not a false history that I can make my self. End.

  30. I am been honest I haven’t not heard of that. But it’s obvious when the Ajuraan become so great they transgressed against all and become less practicing of Sharia. Somalis of all Types objected when Gurgaate Hawiye (mainly current day Hiraab) challenged jambeele Hawiye (Ajuraan)the rest of the Somali tribes helped in the defeat of the Ajuraan. Hence the term you referred to. That is my humble explanation.
